Solihull council

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council take in over 80 unaccompanied asylum seeking children per year. Often from places of war or civil unrest. They have likely been abused on the way to the UK, and upon arrival they are scared, lonely, and traumatised.

They need comfort, safety, and a friendly face.

Working closely with the Social Care team at SMBC, I developed the idea of creating a short animation that can be shown to new arrivals to help them settle into their new life here in the UK. Through the story, design, and motion, I wanted to create something that not only gave the children comfort and knowledge, but provided them with a new memory that wasn’t traumatic, to give them a pleasant and happy introduction to their new life.

I oversaw the entire production of this animation, from scripting, character design, storyboarding, motion graphics and client liason.
